Nursing students’ knowledge and Attitude concerning Acquired Human Im- munodeficiency virus at Iraqi Nursing Colleges

Background: Acquired human immunodeficiency virus remains a global public health problem.Objectives: To determine the level of knowledge and attitudes regarding human immunodeficiency virus among students in nursing colleges in Iraq.Materials & Methods: The study applied a descriptive cross-sectional design and was carried out at four nursing faculties in Iraq, specifically in Baghdad, Babylon, Kirkuk, Tikrit, and Misan. The research employed three instruments: I: A Socio-demographic Questionnaire; II: [Insert the second tool: he Nursing Students’ Knowledge About HIV/AIDS Patient Scale was used to measure the students’ understanding of HIV/AIDS. III: The Nursing Students’Attitudes toward HIV/AIDS Patient Scale was employed to assess their perceptions, biases, and empathy levels.Results: More than half of the students in the study displayed a good level of knowledge, and three- quarters had a positive attitude towards AIDS. There were statistically significant differences (P value < 0.05) between socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge level regarding age, gender, faculty, and academic year.
