Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic offered the world a devastating  surprise on patient care, social, cultural and economic forums.  The Disaster Management Act 2005 lays stress on the  legislative intent to, “provide for the effective management of  disasters” and the National Disaster Management Authority  (NDMA) is the nodal centre for coordinating disaster management. From a legal and administrative perspective, the  act has bestowed the Central government with extensive  powers, especially in the ongoing era of COVID-19 pandemic.
